Crew News

So, 75% of you who filled out the welcome survey said that you’re interested in local businesses…

So, I did some research on what supporting local businesses does for the community:

On average, for every $100 spent at local businesses, roughly $68 stays in the local economy versus $43 if it’s a national brand or $14 if it’s Amazon because local businesses are more likely to:

  • Hire local workers - jobs for you, your family, your friends!

  • Pay local taxes - money for your roads, public safety, and schools!

  • Invest in the community - money for your charities, events, and initiatives!

  • Source goods and services locally - money for your business!

So, I encourage you to show some love to yourself, by showing some love to local businesses this Valentine’s Day week. Below are a few ideas:

For food: Block and Bottle or Union

For drinks: Provision or Sinners & Saints - Dirty Flamenco live at the Altar

For her(self): Mod Mountain Boutique - use code VALENTINES15 for 15% off

For flowers: Castle Rock Florist - guys, they’re dishing out advice that’s 💯

For sweets: The Cake Company

For singles: Sinners and Saints - Love at First Shot on the 16th from 5:00pm-8:00pm

For teens: CR Parks & Rec - Pizza and Paint Night on the 14th from 5:00pm-7:00pm

For parents (and kids?): Schotime Dance - Parent’s Day Out - 9:00am-1:00pm

Will you be supporting local businesses this week? If not, please drop me a note as to why not!

Sports:

  • Broncos - CONGRATULATIONS TO PAT SURTAIN II ON A WELL DESERVED AP DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD THIS PAST WEEK! Even though his extension cost an eye-watering figure, I’m glad we didn’t mess around and tied him up for the foreseeable future.

  • Super Bowl:

    • Anyone else tired of seeing the same five celebrities in every other ad (even if one of them is Peyton)? Anyways, I’m a softie, and the sentimental ads always seem to be some of my favorites. Two of my favorites were Google’s Pixel 9 Ad and the Lay’s The Little Farmer Ad.

    • I got rave reviews on my Texas Caviar Dip! I know it’s super simple, but for a guy like me, it’s about all I can handle to make in the kitchen.

    • Oh, yeah, the game…what a snooze fest, but at least the Eagles won. I admittedly turned it off after the third quarter was over.

  • Nuggets - the Nugs are hot, winning seven in a row. They improved their record to 35-19 with decisive wins over the Pelicans, Magic, Suns, and the Blazers. They’ve climbed to 3rd in the Western Conference, and break for the All Star weekend after Wednesday’s game agains the Blazers.

  • Avalanche - the Avs improved their record to 33-22-2 with wins over the Flames and Oilers, and a loss to the Canucks. They are sitting at 4th in the Central Conference. Play will resume for them after the International Break on the 22nd.

  • CU Buffs - their schedule for the upcoming year just came out, and they announced that they’re adding Marshall Faulk to the coaching staff. He is now the third Hall of Famer on the coaching staff (Coach Prime + Warren Sapp).
