Castle Rock Crew #012
Well, the percentage split between the yeas and nays for the discount card was 94% for and 6% against…so, I’m going to push forward and see who I can get to agree to be on it. If anyone has the inside track with any of the local restaurants, I’d appreciate your help! I want to make sure we get top notch restaurants on it; otherwise, we won’t do it!
New Restaurant Opening:
Wide Awake Eatery: A Fresh New Concept Coming to Downtown Castle Rock
Leah and Todd Hills, the owners of Wide Open Saloon in Sedalia, are bringing an exciting new restaurant to Downtown Castle Rock—Wide Awake Eatery. Known for their dedication to great service, quality food, and fostering community, the Hills have spent five years building Wide Open into a Douglas County favorite. Now, they’re channeling that same passion into a brand-new breakfast and brunch spot.
Before moving to Sedalia, the Hills lived in Downtown Castle Rock for nearly three years and always felt the area was missing a fresh, modern breakfast concept. That idea never left them, and after two years of working on it, they're thrilled to introduce Wide Awake Eatery: "It’s Not Just Breakfast," expected to open between late April and early May.
What to Expect
Brunch Reimagined: The team is currently developing and testing menu items designed to elevate your breakfast and brunch experience (sneak-peek photos below!).
Community-Oriented Approach: As a family-owned business, the Hills prioritize local outreach and fundraising and plan to continue that tradition at Wide Awake. The thing they’re most looking forward to is creating another space for friends and families to gather in the community.
New Team, New Vibes: Hiring and training are already underway, alongside light renovations to create a warm and inviting space.
Evenings at Wide Awake: A New Nighttime Experience
The Hills are also working on an upscale American grill concept for evenings. The vision? A refined yet approachable atmosphere featuring:
Unique cocktails
A plush, comfortable lounge area
Spacious family tables for large gatherings
They want to hear from you! What dishes, ambiance, and overall vibe would you love to see? Share your thoughts and help shape Castle Rock’s newest dining destination.
Honoring the Past
While they’re eager to bring this new concept to Castle Rock, Leah and Todd deeply respect the former owners of Tribe. They extend their best wishes to the previous ownership and their heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Chef Arthur and his family.

Sports:
Broncos - after a flurry of activity over the past couple of weeks, things have been quiet for the Broncos. It will be interesting to see who we sign or draft for the running back position after releasing Javonte Williams. The top option would be signing J.K. Dobbins, but it sounds like he may be going to the Steelers. The Broncos hosted Ohio State’s running back Quinshon Judkins for their top 30 visit…DJ Giddens from Kansas State also visited, so we’ll see what happens.
Nuggets - the Nugs have been plagued with injuries as of late, but Murray is back in the lineup and lit up the Rockets with 39 points. Jokic is supposed to be returning to the lineup this week after he’s been out with elbow and ankle injuries. The Nugs remain at 3rd in the Western Conference with a record of 45-28. They had Jokic/Murray-less losses to the Lakers and Trailblazers, got a big win over the Rockets once Murray was back and then fell to the Bulls. They’ve got a five game Homestand that should help them get back on track.
Avalanche - the Avs continue to be one of the hottest teams in the West. They dropped a game to the Maple Leafs that included a diving referee that interfered with the puck and led to a short-handed goal for the Leafs. Brock Nelson notched his first goal as an Av in a landslide victory against the Senators, where the Avs scored four goals in the first period. The final game of this past week featured a shootout where the Avs outlasted the Canadiens. They sit at third in the Central Division with a record of 43-25-3.
CSU - the Rams upset Memphis in their 12 - 5 matchup in the first round, but they suffered a gut-wrenching buzzer beater loss to Maryland in the second round.
Rapids: The Rapids sit at Western Conference after a brutal 0-3 loss to Portland. Their record is now 2-1-2.
NWSL - the Women’s Soccer Team has announced their plans to build a 14,500-seat stadium which is set to open at Santa Fe Yards in the spring of 2028.
Colorado Mammoth - the Mammoth were in it through three, but fell apart in the fourth and lost to the Ottawa Black Bears. They face the Saskatchewan Rush away this Saturday, March 29th. The Mammoth have fallen to 5th with a record of 8-6.
