Castle Rock Crew #011
Just wanted to say thank you to all 3,000+ of you who are a part of this community!
I also wanted to see if there’s any interest in a discount card for restaurants/bars in Downtown Castle Rock. The idea is you pay a fixed amount for a card with 5-10 bars/restaurants that will give you a one time discount on your tab/meal. In a perfect world, it would be something like 10 establishments giving you a 10%/15% or so discount, and that value would be far in excess of the cost to you.
I’d appreciate it if you filled out this survey (button below) and gave me your thoughts on the idea!
Crew News
Well, I’m not going to lie, I’ve been moving a little slow over the past couple of days and didn’t really get around to writing anything that interesting. No, it’s not because I partied too hard for St. Patrick’s Day…
The reason I’m so tired is:
I went to ShamROCK Stampede and am clearly not in as good of shape as I thought I was. Something came over me and I decided to run the 5k…let’s just say running is a lot different than the stationary bike.
I felt I was entitled to a delicious dessert from our family cookbook, and my mother obliged, so I ate way too much of it and have a sugar hangover.

Spent way too much time on my March Madness bracket, even though I swore I’d never join another bracket/fantasy football/etc. after lighting money on fire for the past 15 years. CSU, REPRESENT!
I was busy going to the bubble exhibition with my nieces, which I enjoyed way more than when I agreed to go Meow Wolf.
I put my nieces to work and they helped me create some advertisements - I’m sure I broke plenty of labor laws, at least minimum wage.
I spent half a day sulking about Southwest ending their free checked bags…

Sports:
Broncos - the Cos signed those players mentioned last week and added Evan Engram who should end our disappointing decade of Tight Ends. Wide Receiver Trent Sherfield was signed to a two-year, $6mm deal and will replace the role of Tremon Smith on special teams (Smith is going to the Texans). We now have our draft order which is….(R1-P20, R2-P51, R3-P85, R4-P122, R6-P191, R6-P197, R6-P208)
Nuggets - Nugs got smoked by the Timberwolves, but bounced back with a tight win over the Lakers. They also had a disappointing loss to the Wizards, but were able to hold off the Warriors without Jokić or Murray. They’ll face two teams competing for their seed in the playoffs this week in the Lakers and Rockets (who have taken off lately 🚀). They’re in 3rd in the Western Conference with a record of 44-25.
Avalanche - the Avs continue to look good, even with a disappointing loss to the Wild in an overtime shootout. They added wins over the Flames and the Stars (OT) this past week, which keeps them at 3rd in the Central Conference with a record of 41-24-3.
Rockies - Dick Monfort decided he, as the owner of the team with the lowest likelihood of winning the World Series (us), would take a shot at the 2024 World Series Champs and favorites for this year (Dodgers) and complain about their ownership group spending too much money and ruining baseball. The Rockies have the 21st-lowest payroll in the MLB…
March Mardness - CSU is the only team from Colorado in the NCAA tournament. They are the 12th seed and face Memphis on Friday. There will be NCAA tournament games at Ball Arena for the first and second rounds on March 20th and March 22nd. Tickets are still available here.
Rapids: The Rapids have moved up to 4th in the Western Conference after a win over the San Jose Earthquakes (2-1). Their record is now 2-0-2.
Colorado Mammoth - the Mammoth eked one out against the Philadelphia Wings this past Saturday, and remain at 3rd in the standings. They face the Ottawa Blackbears away this Sunday, March 23rd.
Events:
Walked by the old Tribe location and saw a sign in the window for Wide Awake…according to what I’ve seen on the interwebs, it’s the owners of Wide Open in Sedalia that are going to be opening up a breakfast/brunch spot with cocktails/dinner to follow. I saw some photos that seem to have disappeared of chicken and waffles, french toast, cinnamon rolls, avocado toast, etc. that all looked good. I’ve reached out to Wide Open to see if they can provide details, but haven’t heard back. Let me know if you’ve got the inside scoop!
