Tell Tales

Instead of doing the typical flowers this year, I just ordered one of these guided journals for my mom for Mother’s Day (and the Dad version for Father’s day). This came at the recommendation of a friend and I know my mom is going to love it. It’s a book for her to lay out her memories, preserve stories about her life, and tell us about things she likes, etc., so I’m excited to see what she puts in it. This is also a test to see if my parents actually read the newsletter like they say they do…

Kids - take advantage of this Mother’s Day sale and get something new and meaningful!

Dads - encourage or buy these for your kids to give to their mom!

Moms - take things into your own hands (like you always do) and buy it for yourself to gift to your kid(s)!

Adopt Pets:

Take a look at some new arrivals at the Buddy Center, Peach and Wick! Peach looks like an absolute sweetheart and I’m just imagining what kind of howl Wick could produce…

Sports:

  • Broncos - the draft is finally here! It should come as no surprise that the emphasis is going to be on drafting a running back. The Cos opted to pass on taking any backs in Free Agency because this year’s class is packed full of good options at the position. And, could we also provide a reunion for Nix’s adopted brother and former high school and college teammate, Tez Johnson? There have been questions about his size and then his speed after a lackluster 40 performance at the combine…At the end of the day, nobody thought we would be in the position that we’re in after trading away so many of our picks and getting hit with so much dead cap when we let Mr. Unlimited walk. Let’s hope the draft can be as successful as it was last year and we can really take it up a notch.

  • Nuggets - well whoever set up the Avs and Nuggets playoff schedule deserves to be fired immediately...anyways, the Nugs trailed for the majority of the first game against the Clippers. Murray, Jokić, and Gordon carried the majority of the offensive load with Russell Westbrook coming in clutch in the final minutes of the game to force OT and then to get a win in OT. A back and forth game two ended in a 102-105 loss for the Nuggets. Kawhi Leonard could not miss and had a monster game with 39 points. The Nugs were sloppy with the ball, commiting 20 turnovers (7 for Jokić). They’ll head to LA with the series tied 1-1.

  • Avalanche - the Avs started things off right with a dominating performance in game one that saw them win 5-1 against the Stars. MacKinnon had a stellar night with two goals and an assist. Like the Nuggets, the Avs also had a back and forth game two which went to OT. In the end, they’re likely kicking themselves like the Nuggets for letting this one get away from them (3-4 loss). They’ll come home with the series tied 1-1.

  • Rockies - we’re 4 and 17, but we did have a grand slam against the Dodgers

  • Rapids: The Rapids sit at 5th Western Conference after drawing 2-2 against a struggling Houston Dynamo team. They’re surely disappointed after dropping this one against one of the worst teams in the league. Their record is now 4-2-3.

  • Colorado Mammoth - the Mammoth’s season is officially over and they ended with a record of 8-10 after a loss to the Calgary Roughnecks. They were in it through the first half, but were completely outmatched in the second. What was actually looking like a decent season and a playoff bid ended in disaster after some unfortunate injuries. We’ll have to watch the playoffs that are starting this week from the sidelines.
