🌷 Fun Ideas to Make Mom Feel Special:

  • Book her a “me” day at a local favorite like Copper Falls or Hand & Stone Massage.

  • Treat her to a free yoga class with Buka Yoga’s Bring your Mom for Free promotion on May 11th – just send Brooke ([email protected]) a note if you’re bringing Momma (all kinds of moms are included – fur, human, step, aunty, adopted or overall favorite)! Check out their class schedule here.

  • Plan a family picnic at Festival Park — bring her favorite snacks and surprise her with handwritten notes from the kiddos.

  • Start her day off right with the perfect cup of coffee from Oo de Lally Coffee – they just recently dropped their summer menu.

🥂 Dining Recs for Mother's Day:

  • Los Dos Potrillos — Recent location opening for “Real Mexican Food.”

  • Scileppi’s at The Old Stone Church — Historic setting, incredible atmosphere.

  • Union – An American Bistro — Relaxed but elevated, perfect for a special lunch.

  • Trestles Coastal Cuisine — For moms who love seafood.

  • Sierra Lone Tree — An upscale wood-fired kitchen with a warm ambiance.

🎁 Thoughtful Gift Ideas:

  • Grab a gift this week for your favorite lady at Mod Mountain Boutique (skip the madness of the mall…plus, they offer complimentary gift wrapping and sell Mother’s Day cards, too – nothing like making shopping for a gift as easy as possible). Plus, tons of great options if you need an outfit for the big day. Mention this email for 10% off your purchase through Saturday, May 10th . Visit them downtown at 215 Wilcox Street.

  • While you’re downtown be sure to pick up a custom flower arrangement from my go-to flower spot, The Garden Path.

  • Or, if you’re feeling something else, check out Life at Home’s Mother’s Day gift ideas – you might still be able to get custom gift made.

However you celebrate, just make sure mom feels loved, pampered, and celebrated like the superstar she is! Happy Mother’s Day, Castle Rock!

Sports:

  • Broncos - seen a lot of draft grades being thrown out in the B range. Seems like the consensus is that going with cornerback Jahdae Barron at 20 was likely not something the brass was planning on doing, but they just couldn’t pass up on somebody who could’ve been a top 12 prospect. Look for him to have immediate impact this coming year. With Jerome Ford taking a pay cut for the Browns, Nick Chubb is a free agent who needs a home. Could he be a good fit in the running back room with our second draft pick, RJ Harvey?

  • Nuggets - what a series with the Clippers…I was worried the Clips had too much momentum and Kawhi was looking too good for the Nugs to overcome, but they closed it out with a huge win in Game 7! They’re now facing a familiar face in OKC, who they split games with this season (2-2). This series is going to showcase the two guys at the top of the MVP race, so that’ll be a very interesting and prominent storyline…Game 1 saw the Thunder in the lead most of the night with the Nuggets down by 13 almost halfway through the 4th. Jokić had another insane stat line with 42 points and 22 rebounds, but Aaron Gordon stole the show with ANOTHER GAME WINNER. Nuggets have to feel like they stole one there. Hopefully they can ride this momentum in game 2. On the other side of the Western Conference bracket, the Warriors squeezed it out against the Rockets in a series that went to a game 7 and go to Minnesota. Eastern conference bracket has the Cavs versus the Pacers and the Celtics versus the Knicks.

  • Avalanche - Avs fought back to force a game 7 where they had a 2-0 lead going into the third. However, they ended up in a heartbreaking loss that saw them losing 2-4. They did set a record in the game, but unfortunately it was being the first MLB/NBA/NHL team in history to lose 7 consecutive Game 7s…we’ll have to see where we go from here after coming up short consistently since raising the Cup.

  • Rockies - record is 6-28…I just saw some name calling where we were referred to as cellar-dwellers…how nice! Attendance is allegedly holding up, though…

  • Rapids - the Rapids sit at 4-23-4 with 16 points after a 1-2 loss to a below average D.C. United. The Rapids have dropped to 8th in the Western Conference.
