Castle Rock Crew #024
Tunes for Trails, Norris Trophy x2, and breaking ground in Centennial
Hope you had a great Father’s Day Weekend and successfully celebrated all the dads in your life — or were celebrated yourself. There were plenty of events to choose from, so I hope got out and enjoyed at least one of them!
As a reminder, Jason’s still looking for more volunteers for his ROCK-IT RUN, so if you’ve got time (or a teenager 15+ who could use a little summer service), it’d be a great way to help out. There are also a few vendor booth spots still open, and I agree with Jason that vendors at his events always do well. I left the ShamROCK Stampede with a new chiropractor and a window washer!

Castle Rocks Parks and Trails Foundation
We’ve got some really exciting events coming up for the Castle Rocks Parks and Trails Foundation that you won’t want to miss! The Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2012 that seeks to inspire nature conservation, promote open space stewardship, and encourage our community to get outdoors. Its goal is to partner with the Town of Castle Rock to make our outdoor spaces better — more connected, more accessible and more FUN!
Quick Castle Rock stats: 62 developed parks, 136 miles of trails and 6,900 acres of open space! Check out the below events to see how you can support their efforts, have a good time, and enjoy the outdoors!
Tunes for Trails
Bring your lawn chair, grab a bite from local food trucks, and enjoy a free concert under the stars at Miller Park. Tunes for Trails is more than a concert — it's a celebration of the outdoors and a fundraiser for local trail projects. There will even be a drawing for a Solo Stove Bonfire!
Concerts take place from 6:30pm–9:00pm (doors at 5:30pm) on the third Thursdays of each month. The series kicks off with Heavy Diamond Ring on Thursday, June 19. Their indie-folk/folk-rock sound has been described as “open-road, long drive music, having “a little bit of twang, and a whole lot of beef.” Yum?
Learn more about them on their website.
Other Dates:
That Eighties Band - July 17 - you can probably guess what kind of music they play — and you may recognize them from recent shows at local venues - learn more
Linger: A Tribute to The Cranberries - August 21 - this tribute band is dedicated to the ‘90s iconic Irish Rock Band, The Cranberries - learn more
Dance X - September 18 - start practicing your dance moves now because this band will get you on your feet - learn more
Please note: No outside beverages are allowed except for ONE factory-sealed water bottle per person. Guests may also bring empty reusable water bottles to use at the provided water-filling station.
Twilight on the Trails:
Okay, so you should be aware of the Lost Canyon Ranch Open Space, but if you’re not, it’s 681 acres that the Town purchased in 2024 to preserve for the benefit of the community. It’s not yet open to the public, but fundraisers and sneak peeks have begun, and you’re invited to be a part of its opening. Their signature fundraiser is on Friday, July 12, from 6:00pm–9:30pm! Twilight on the Trails is a magical evening on the Lost Canyon Ranch Open Space featuring cocktails, heavy Hors d’Oeuvres, a silent auction, and short guided sunset hikes along the canyon edge. Proceeds support outdoor access and conservation in Castle Rock.
Discover Lost Canyon Events
This summer, you’re invited to explore Lost Canyon Ranch Open Space before it opens to the public! Join them for exclusive, small-group events like sunrise yoga, full moon hikes, guided nature tours, and more. I’ve already purchased my ticket for the hike on the 19th! Be sure to get a ticket before they’re all sold out!

Whether you love trail work, greeting guests, or helping behind the scenes, there’s a role for you this summer. Opportunities available throughout the event series. Sign up once and they’ll be in touch!

Sports:
Broncos - after months of mutual interest, we’ve signed J.K. Dobbins to a $2.75mm/one-year contract with up to $2.5mm in performance incentives. He comes over from the Chargers where he had a great year last year. He missed four games due to a MCL strain in 2024, but still tallied 905 yards and nine TDs on a strong 4.6 yards-per-carry average. Dobbins will be a great addition to a running back room that’s determined to look completely different than last year’s.
Avalanche - Makar won another Norris Trophy (awarded to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-around ability in the position). He and MacKinnon punched their tickets to represent Canada in the Winter Games in Italy. Nate and Cale were 4th and 6th, respectively, in MVP voting.
Rockies - a fluke 10-1 win over the Braves, or a glimpse of what’s to come? 15-57 record after a win yesterday over the Nationals.
Rapids - the Rapids continue to lose matches, but have maintained their position at 9th in the Western Conference with a record of 6-8-4 and 22 points. They face the worst team in the league in the LA Galaxy tomorrow and New England on Saturday.
NWSL - breaking ground in Centennial…
