Birthday Weekend, the Broncos are sooo back, and more
Well, it was my birthday on Sunday, and I’m a big believer that birthdays are for two things: eating great food and not feeling bad about it. This year, Tony’s Market delivered both in style.
On my plate: juicy chicken skewers, Japanese steak skewers (a close second), Cajun-style pork skewers (the winner), Italian broccoli slaw, supergreen salad, and sweet cantaloupe. I believe the watermelon and focaccia bread were from somewhere else…

Dessert consisted of an Oreo brownie that moonlighted as my birthday cake—even the dog wanted a piece (photo at the end of the newsletter)—and their massive cookies, which I didn’t get a photo of because those big boys were gone in a flash…
So, in the spirit of good eating — and because Tony’s is basically a local legend — here’s your reminder that Tony’s Annual Chile Roast is back. They’re having four live chile roasting events from August 16th through September 6th. Be sure to mark your calendars for the one at their Castle Pines location on Saturday, August 30th from 11:00am-3:00pm.
Here’s what you can expect at each of their chile roasts:
Live chile roasting outside the store
Fresh Hatch and Pueblo green chiles
Grill Tent
Free Chile Samples
An opportunity to chat with their team about chiles and support local growers
They’ve got a bunch of photos online of some handcrafted chile-infused items that’ll be featured and their Green Chile & Cheddar Cornbread already has my mouth watering…
For more details on the events, check out their website here.
Check out their Instagram here and their Facebook here.
Mark the Calendar: Castle Pines Location Chile Roast - Saturday, August 30th - 11:00am-3:00pm
If you have a favorite Tony’s dish that I didn’t try, please let me know because I will obviously be going back.
Castle Rock Wellness
Rebecca’s Testimony
I’ve been receiving acupuncture services from Kelly at Castle Rock Wellness for about 7 or 8 months now. I initially went in due to a shoulder injury. From the start, both Kevin and Kelly have greeted me with warmth and professionalism, making every visit welcoming.
At my first appointment, Kelly took the time to thoroughly understand my pain—asking when it began, where it was located, and how intense it was. She walked me through the entire acupuncture process, explaining where she would place the needles and why. Her knowledge is incredible, and it’s clear she’s passionate about what she does.
I felt comfortable right away. The atmosphere at their office is—and always has been—extremely relaxing. Since then, I’ve continued going monthly. My shoulder feels 100% better, and I now go for overall healing throughout my body. I strongly believe in this method of healing!
I highly recommend Kelly and Kevin at Castle Rock Wellness. Their care, expertise, and calming environment have made it an easy choice!
Experience healing for yourself and see why locals keep coming back.

Pet Adoptions
Along with law enforcement, our friends over at Humane Colorado recently rescued over 70 horses from horrible conditions. They are doing a flash fundraiser to help with the rehabilitation of these beautiful creatures. If you have an interest in helping them reach their goal, check out their fundraising campaign here.
Their Harmony Equine Center is just over in Franktown and always has animals up for adoption. Check out their available horses here.
I don’t think looking at these two is going to solve the debate of Hashbrown(s) versus Tater Tot(s).

Sports
Broncos - and we are so back! Although we started out looking very rusty, we quickly turned things around. I’m going to blame jitters for the 1st string’s struggles…after giving up a touchdown on the first drive and then a safety, the Broncos scored 30 unanswered points to win the game 30-9. Based on Nik Bonitto’s play, you can tell he is clearly looking to get paid (and should be) — the 49ers could not keep him out off the backfield. Stidham and Sherfield Sr. might be the hottest duo in pre-season play so far…we face the Cardinals at home this Saturday at 7:30pm.
Rockies - Rockies are 30-88 overall after going 2-8 in their last ten…looks like the post-All Star Game fire is flickering….
Rapids - the Rapids are 9-11-6 with 33 points and gained a spot to get to 8th in the Western Conference after a 2-1 win over Minnesota. They ended up 1-2 in the Leagues Cup after losing to Cruz Azul in penalty kicks — they did not make it out of the group stage.
Summit - a well credentialed coach in Nick Cushing has been hired.

I don’t know why I’m putting this on the internet, but enjoy a look at those delicious Oreo brownies — I just want someone to look at me like my dog was looking at those brownies…
