Castle Rock Crew #038

Fall Coffee Menus, Avs & Nugs Save Us Please, and More

Hope you had a great weekend. I had an excellent one attending some local events like Oktoberfest where I got to enjoy this awesome doner from the CO Berliner Haus food truck (they just opened up in Avanti Denver, which is a cool collective eatery if you ever find yourself downtown and your group can’t agree on what to eat).

I didn't get a chance to try Bohemian Wurst because there were 100 people in line when I walked by…guess I’ll have to wait another day to try their DOUBLE DOG (pictured below).

I did get a free sample of the Best Day Brewing Kölsch (NA Beer you can find online or in-store at Tiny Bubbles, Safeway, Sprouts, Whole Foods, etc.) and would definitely have it again. I may have to try out a variety pack of theirs.

Fall Drink Quest

I am on a quest which I think ranks pretty high up there…along the lines of Frodo, Luke Skywalker, and Harry Potter’s quests. My goal: to find the best fall coffee drink in Castle Rock. I can’t do this alone…I’m just not strong enough. So please let me know what I’m missing or, if you’ve already tried some, which of these are your favorites so far.

Here are the four fall menus I’m keying in on to find my favorite fall drink (and conveniently, none of them list calories — so I’m just going to assume they’re all ~5 calories, fair enough?).

LaLa’s

I’m pretty confident the Caramel Peanut Butter Latte is going to steal my heart. Check out LaLa’s website here and Instagram here. There might be a secret menu as well…

Oo•de•Lally

Game over - going with the Pecan Pie or the Cinnamon Roll (which is topped off with a mini Cinnamon Roll). Check out Oo•de•Lally’s website here and Instagram here.

COFF33

The Gilmore — you had me at Salted Maple. Check out COFF33’s website here and Instagram here.

Apres

I didn’t know that Graham Cracker Syrup even existed — sign me up for the Toasted Tide. Check out Apres’ website here and Instagram here.

See you out there! Oh, and Bearded Man Coffee does have a seasonally available Autumn Bliss which is even included in a Pumpkin Coffee Cake recipe they shared.

Which of these do you think will be the fan favorite?

Pet Adoptions

Is it just me or are both Luna and Pez earisistable (can’t believe I went there)? I love the eyes on Luna and you can just tell that Pez is a ball of energy.

Sports

Broncos - Sean Payton and Vance Joseph are supposed to be great coaches, but I’m not going to lie, the Broncos look like a really poorly coached team…playing after the whistle goes off and getting penalized, stopping playing before the whistle goes off…more stupid penalties, passes where wideouts should stop, passes that are just a little too excited. Two straight games that we should've had, especially considering the Chargers offensive line was completely battered, along with an unfortunate injury to their RB. Speaking of injuries, hate to see injuries on our side to the recent additions of Evan Engram and Dre Greenlaw (now on IR). Let’s see if we can bounce back this coming week when we face the Bengals, who are dearly missing Joe Burrow, this Sunday at 2:05pm.

Nuggets - Promo schedule has been released so check out which night you might want to partake in…we’ve got preseason in less than two weeks…check out the schedule here.

Avalanche - “It feels different this year” - Ross Colton on having his captain back. Well, Landy made his presence known by dropping his gloves after Makar took a nasty elbow in the first preseason game where they beat the Utah Mammoth 5-1. They also won the second of the preseason doubleheader 3-2. We’ll play the Stars on Saturday, September 27th and then the Golden Knights on Tuesday, September 30th. We’ll face each of them one more time in preseason before we’re fully into the regular season (schedule here).

Rockies - After starting the season on track to be the worst team in history, the Rockies officially avoided that after picking things up over the past few months — should we raise a banner for this? They’ll finish their nearly historic season with series against the Mariners and Giants. 3-7 in the last 10 and are now 43-113 overall.

Rapids - dropped a match to FC Dallas unfortunately and are now in an uneasy position. They need to finish strong now that they are 11-14-6 with 39 points and are barely holding onto 8th in the Western conference. Next match is against Minnesota on Saturday, September 27th.

Sabercats Football - the Sabercats are now 2-2 after losing the Battle of the Rock to their hometown rivals (23-7). They host Legend this Friday, September 26th at 6:30pm. Check out their schedule here.

Huskies Football - the Huskies are 3-1 after they got their revenge and beat the Sabercats 23-7 after losing to them 37-16 last year. They’re on the road against Chatfield this Thursday, September 25th at 7:30pm. Check out their schedule here.

Poll Results: an even split between supporting the Sabercats and Huskies!
