Castle Rock Crew #041
Spooky season, London adventures, and a few games we’ll pretend didn’t happen
Well, I was sidelined with a cold this past week, so I unfortunately didn’t get out for Restaurant Week or make any progress on my fall drink quest. Oh well, but I did finally try Castle Cafe’s Castlewood Canyon salad. Yes, I’ve known about it forever — and no, it didn’t disappoint! Highly recommend trying it. Medjool dates in a salad = chef’s kiss!

We’ve got a ton of Halloween/end of the month events to cover in this week…but wanted to make sure I gave you the heads-up that someone named Pat is flexing on Nextdoor that he is going to be handing out large candy bars...in this economy?! Little does he know that a random dude with no kids (me) is now going to be showing up to his house to get one...anyways, check out this Treat Map if you need some help mapping out your trick or treating route!
Between Halloween and Thanksgiving, I know I’m going to need a little extra calorie burn so I just signed up for the Thanksgiving Morning Turkey ROCK Trot…Jason from Run to Change Lives was kind enough to give out a discount code for you. Just use CRCREW25 for 15% off.
I’ll write about it more soon, but think light exercise, food, drinks, giveaways, a DJ, community, and supporting a great cause in Help & Hope Center! You can register here — they also need volunteers, so sign up here — they also have a few vendor spots left, so check out the details here…
I hope to see you there for the 5k Family Fun Run/Walk/Stroll! And if you don’t want to race alone, or if you want to ‘race’ under our flag, join the Castle Rock Crew team!

I don’t know if it was the name or the look of absolute terror on his face when they snapped the photo, but somebody’s got to give Freckles Mcgee a home!

Sports
Broncos - can’t imagine that the Brits were overly ecstatic about the showing that the Broncos and Jets gave them...pretty tough to watch all around. Our offense gave the Jets their first takeaway on a Franklin fumble, and a holding call in the end zone handed them a safety and a 10–9 lead late in the 3rd. But we grinded it out and put together just enough on offense. Evan Engram looked sharp, and that nice gain with Mims was another bright spot. The defense stepped up big with nine sacks, including two clutch ones in the final two minutes when the Jets were flirting with field goal range…four of our next five games are at home, which will be great for our team to regroup and iron some things out. We host the dynamic duo of Dart and Skatteboo and the Giants on Sunday, October 19 at 2:05pm. Mr. Unlimited will be in attendance on their bench.
Nuggets - visited our friends from last year’s first round of the playoffs in LA and beat the Clippers 102-94. We’ll host the Bulls tonight and visit the reigning champs on Friday, October 17. Regular season begins with a game on the road against the Warriors on Thursday, October 23.
Avalanche - regular season play is in full swing now. We’re 3-0-1 with 7 points after wins over the Kings, Mammoth and Sabres and an overtime loss to the Stars (no…it hurts so bad every time we lose to them). We go on the road to visit the Blue Jackets (10/16) and then host the Bruins (10/18). Must see wizardry from Nate Dogg!
Rockies - is it safe to stop covering these guys after that pitiful season? Or should I write about how the Dodgers are likely to go back to back? Hate to see them win a series like this…
Rapids - We’ll now take on LAFC on Saturday, October 18 at 7:00pm. Season is on the line as we head towards Decision Day, being 10th in the Western conference at 11-15-7 with 40 points.
Sabercats Football - the Sabercats are now 3-4 and 1-1 in league after a disheartening 56-0 loss to Valor (but does it really count against them). They’ll visit league opponent Rock Canyon this Saturday, October 18 at 1:00pm. Check out their schedule here.
Huskies Football - the Huskies are 4-3 and 0-2 in league after losing in a shootout with Pine Creek 55-48. They’ll host league opponent Regis Jesuit on Friday, October 17 at 6:00pm. Check out their schedule here.
