Happy 303 Day or Buy Colorado Day! If you need another excuse to support local, this holiday is it!
Speaking of local businesses, we had an awesome time at Rock Solid’s grand opening event this past week, even though we got our butts kicked. Not sure what hurt more though, the workout or having to get up at a reasonable time like the rest of society to make an 8:00am class. Anyways, going to take advantage of their two-week deal. Sitting in the sauna and sweating counts as a workout, right? Here’s the link if you want to join me: Two-Week Trial.
In other business news, it sounds like The Whiskey Lodge recently changed hands. I’m going to try and get over there for B.O.B. (Business over Beverages) tonight. It’s ‘Peaky’ themed, but that’s one kind of hat I don’t rock.
Also, finally got some shots up of Buff City and their grand opening on Instagram if you want to take a look here.
And if you’re big on planning, take a look at the image further down that shows all the Downtown Castle Rock events they’ve got lined up.
Finally, last call for the DougCo Social Dinner Club here in Castle Rock on Wednesday, March 11. We’ve got over 50 sign-ups so far, but would love to have you join us. Link here.
Featured Event: ShamROCK Stampede
Okay, so I’m looking to bounce back from my pitiful Turkey Trot showing where I was 218th out of 225 in my age group…I’m not going to get cocky, but if I could move up to at least the equivalent 217th, I think I’d be happy…Green Goblin guy, I may have eaten your dust last year, but you’re mine this year, buddy.

The 8th Annual ShamROCK Stampede is back at the Douglas County Event Center on Saturday, March 14. Whether you're a serious runner or you just want to walk and collect your free beer at the finish line (hi, that's me), bring the whole family — dogs included.
Choose your distance: 10K (10:00am), 5K (10:15am), or the FREE 1K Kids Run (10:50am). If you're competitive, it's also an RRCA State Championship race. If you're not, there's live Celtic music, a Back to Health Expo, free bagels from Einstein Bros, and a free drink from 105 West Brewing or Molly Brown Spirits waiting for you at the end.
Here's the part that matters: all proceeds benefit the It's a Calling Foundation and Live Free Association — organizations supporting the mental health of first responders, veterans, and their families. The event was started years ago to honor a loved one who struggled with mental health, and past races have helped fund hundreds of counseling sessions. Let's keep bumping that number up.
The rundown:
9:00am – Back to Health Expo / Registration
10:00am – 10K starts
10:15am – 5K starts
10:50am – 1K Kids Run
11:00am – Awards Ceremony
11:05am – Sham-Jam Headliner
12:00pm – Event ends and the St. Paddy’s party continues elsewhere…

Better Bodies by Tina
Looking for a Deeper Massage?
Tina doesn't just work the obvious areas. She specializes in deep, thorough massage — targeting the overlooked muscles and connections that hold tension but rarely receive focused attention. Her private space in The Meadows is quiet, comfortable, and designed so your body can fully relax and recover. If you've been craving a massage that addresses the work your body needs, this is it.
New clients get $25 off any 60 or 90-minute session.
Pet Adoptions
I had a pair of young Aussie pups, Tabitha and Roddy, lined up for today, but as expected they were adopted just before hitting publish…if you’re looking for a pair that’s a little bit older, take a look at these bonded brothers, Sparky and Bogie.

Sports
Broncos — Big news from the Combine: Sean Payton is giving up play-calling to OC Davis Webb. Payton said Webb is "sharp" and earned the trust in preseason — this frees Payton to focus on game management (where he's struggled at times). After coming within a game and a half of the franchise's 4th Lombardi, the urgency is real. I’m hoping I have fewer face-in-palm moments than I did last season. Not only were there some absolutely atrocious calls, but it felt like we were facing 3rd and long all the time…yes, your resident coach from the couch is still here.
Free agency opens March 11. The front office has 55 players under contract heading in, with tight end still the biggest need. ESPN's Aaron Schatz has Cade Otton (Buccaneers) heading to Denver in his one signing for every team column.
Nuggets — we're 38-24, holding 5th in the West after a wild week. We beat the Celtics (103-84) on Wed, Feb 25 — Jokić had 30 and 12 on a rough shooting night, but the defense clamped down. Then things got heated. We lost to the Thunder (127-121 OT) on Fri, Feb 27 in a game that felt like a playoff preview. Lu Dort tripped Jokić on an inbounds play, sending him to the floor. Jokić went right at him, Jaylin Williams got involved, and both sides almost came to blows. Dort was ejected with a flagrant 2. Jokić and Williams got double technicals. SGA scored 36 in his return. Jokić called the whole thing "an unnecessary move and a necessary reaction." These two teams don't like each other.
We dropped another to the Timberwolves (117-108) on Sun, Mar 1 — Anthony Edwards and crew moved into 4th in the West with that one. We closed out the road trip with a win in Utah (128-125) on Mon, Mar 2 — Jamal Murray went off for 45 points and hit the go-ahead free throws with 31.8 seconds left. Jokić added 22 and 12. Next up: Thu, Mar 5 vs Lakers, Fri, Mar 6 vs Knicks, and Mon, Mar 9 @ Thunder again. Yeah, that'll be fun.
Avalanche — we're 40-10-9 with 89 points, still the best team in hockey. The boys came back from the Olympic break and went 3-1 this week. We beat Utah (4-2) Wed, Feb 25 — Necas and Kelly each had 2 points, Kulak made his debut. We ran into a red-hot Wild team Thu, Feb 26 and lost (5-2) — Matt Boldy had 4 points and Gustavsson stopped 44 shots against us. We bounced back with a win over Chicago (3-1) Sat, Feb 28. We beat LA (4-2) Mon, Mar 2 — Landeskog, MacKinnon, and Toews all scored. Next up: Tue, Mar 3 @ Anaheim, Fri, Mar 6 @ Dallas, Sun, Mar 8 vs Minnesota for revenge.
Rockies — Spring training continues in Scottsdale, and the prospects are turning heads. Charlie Condon and TJ Rumfield are both making cases for Opening Day roster spots at first base — each hit 3 home runs in February. Condon (No. 70 MLB prospect, 3rd overall pick in 2024) is learning to hit MLB velocity and getting outfield reps too. Rumfield came over from the Yankees and won a Minor League Gold Glove. Manager Warren Schaeffer says Rumfield is "on the fastball" and Condon is improving daily.
Rapids — We won the home opener. Ojediran and Herrington each scored their first goals for the club as we blanked Portland 2-0 on Sat, Feb 28. Zach Steffen had 3 saves. After the opening loss in Seattle, good to get back on track. Next up: Sat, Mar 7 vs LA Galaxy at 7:30pm.
Mammoth — We're 9-3 after an epic comeback against San Diego on Fri, Feb 27. We trailed by 5 goals early and stormed back to win 14-12. That's the kind of resilience playoff teams have. Next up: Sat, Mar 7 vs Ottawa Black Bears at 7:00pm.
