Well, I hope you enjoyed the precipitation and snow over the past week. I took a literal rain check on B.O.B. at The Whiskey Lodge last week, so I didn’t get over there to meet the new owners. I’ll keep it on the never-ending to-do list.
I did, however, get over to The Par Club, which had its grand opening and ribbon cutting this past week. It’s a really unique spot with a nice elevated feeling. They currently have six golf bays (with a seventh coming later), plus a full bar, lounge seating, and TVs throughout. It’s in the Safeway center off S Perry, so if you’re in Plum Creek it might actually be the closest bar to you.
You can play golf or other simulator games. They’ve got clubs available, it’s kid-friendly, and they’re continuing to build out their food options. I dropped a few photos on Instagram here.
As you know, I've been mentioning the Dinner Clubs ad nauseam, but we're looking at sprinkling in a few other events on top of those to continue building community.
And since ladies are always first…I wanted to test the waters: would you be interested in a Ladies' Night Out — wine tasting, charcuterie and chocolate pairings, dressing up, giveaways, the whole thing?
Ladies — are you interested in an event like this?
Men — want the love of your life to go?
Business Spotlight: Alidade Brewing

For nine months, I've been dropping Alidade Brewing into the events section of this newsletter — music bingo, puzzle competitions, goat meet and greets, and more. You've seen the name dozens of times at this point.
And yet I've never actually written about them.
That changes today. I stopped in a couple weeks ago, had a great time, and have their St. Patrick's Day Party on my calendar for Sunday, March 15th. If you've been curious about the place behind all those event listings, here's your full picture.
The Origin Story
Alidade is the brainchild of Bo and Evan, two guys who found each other in the craft beer world after taking very different roads to get there.
Bo spent 28 years in the oil and gas industry before stepping away to pursue his dream of working in the craft beer industry. Evan, meanwhile, had been in the brewing world for years, logging time at Green Flash and New Realm, building deep expertise in everything from IPAs to non-alcoholic and RTD beverages.
Their paths converged at Barnett & Son Brewing in Parker, which was acquired by Lone Tree Brewing in 2024. Bo worked sales; Evan brewed. Two guys, different backgrounds, same vision: open something of their own.
Castle Rock was the call. Bo and Evan both live in the Parker area, and they saw what a lot of us see every day — the growth happening between Denver and Colorado Springs, with Castle Rock sitting right in the middle of it. In the nine months since they opened, they've partnered with local businesses and organizations and recently hosted NextGen networking for the Chamber — making it clear they're here to be part of the community, not just operate in it.
They’re joined by Head Brewer Derek Waner, who is also part of the ownership group and brings over a decade of hands-on experience in brewing and production management. His experience spans system buildouts, recipe development, contract production, and team leadership at several respected breweries across the country.

The Name
An alidade is a navigational tool used to find direction with precision and purpose — and for Bo and Evan, that's exactly the point. "It's a symbol of intention, clarity, and movement forward," they told me. "It reflects how we want to operate, whether we're brewing, building community, or helping someone discover a new favorite beer. Alidade Brewing is about finding your direction and enjoying the experience along the way."
Their tagline says it all: "Chart your course. Choose your craft."
And that's exactly what they're doing at Alidade. Beyond small-batch beer, they're licensed to produce their own spirits, wine, and cider — giving you a genuine choice depending on whatever you're in the mood for.
What's on Tap
A few standouts worth ordering on your first visit: the Easy Call Mexican Lager, the Upside Down Sunset New Zealand IPA, and the Crowned Fortune West Coast Double IPA. The craft cocktails are worth noting too. Most people likely walk in thinking beer, which is fair, but Bo and Evan will tell you the cocktail program is probably the most underrated thing on the menu.
The Food Situation
Alidade runs food trucks Tuesday through Sunday with a rotating lineup. They've built out a solid roster of local trucks covering everything from BBQ to cheesesteaks to wings. Check their events page before you head over to see who's set up that day.
A Few Other Things Worth Knowing
Dog friendly on the patio. And if you've been hunting for a private venue in Castle Rock, their group reservations are worth a look for birthdays, company gatherings, or casual get-togethers. A dedicated private event space is also coming soon.
And community is clearly the point here. "We are so grateful for all the support we have received since we opened," Bo and Evan told me. "Whether you're here for a new release or a casual afternoon with friends, we've got something for you."

St. Patrick's Day Party — Sunday, March 15th, 12:00pm
This is the event that made me want to write this piece right now, because it's one of the more genuinely fun things happening in Castle Rock this month.
Here's what Alidade has lined up: mini Highland cows and baby lambs on-site courtesy of KB Ranch, two new beer releases in the Alidade Red Ale and Irish Stout, live music by Manitou Strings from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Irish dancing by Celtic Steps at 2:30pm, and Irish food specials from the Celtic Chicken food truck. Free entry.
Bring your friends, bring your family, wear your green. I'll be there — and knowing me I’ll probably be showing off and wearing my ShamROCK Stampede participation medal. Come say hi.

Weighing in at 100 lbs, Perseus is a big boy and definitely not for the faint of heart. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of a Dogo Argentino…
Sports
Broncos — Free agency officially opens Wed, Mar 11, and we've been busy locking up our own guys. We re-signed JK Dobbins to a 2-year deal after missing on Kenneth Walker (Chiefs) and Travis Etienne (Saints). We also brought back Alex Singleton (2-year, $15.5M), re-signed Justin Strnad (3-year, $18M), and brought back Adam Trautman. On the way out: Dre Greenlaw was released after an injury-plagued season (8 games), John Franklin-Myers signed with Tennessee (3-year, $63M), and Jaleel McLaughlin won't be tendered — though we may still re-sign him cheaper. One interesting storyline: teams have been calling about Jarrett Stidham.
Nuggets — We're 39-26, sitting 6th in the West. We beat the Lakers (120-113) on Thursday — Jokić had another triple-double (28/12/13). Then we got absolutely embarrassed by the Knicks (103-142) on Friday — a 39-point blowout at home. And last night we fell to the Thunder (126-129) in another nailbiter. Jokić had 32/14/13, Murray gutted it out with 21 points on that bad ankle, and Tim Hardaway Jr. went off for 28 (8-12 from three) off the bench — but it wasn't enough. SGA hit a dagger three to seal it and tied Wilt Chamberlain's record for consecutive 20-point games (126). We return Wed, Mar 11 vs the Rockets, Thu, Mar 12 @ the Spurs, and Sat, Mar 14 @ the Lakers.
Avalanche — We're 43-10-9 (95 pts), sitting 1st in the Central. We beat the Ducks (5-1) on Tuesday, took down Dallas in a shootout (5-4) on Friday, and grabbed another shootout win against Minnesota (3-2) on Sunday. That's five straight. We host Edmonton Tue, Mar 10, then head to Seattle Thu, Mar 12, Winnipeg Sat, Mar 14, and back home for Pittsburgh Mon, Mar 16.
The big news: Nazem Kadri is back. GM Chris MacFarland pulled off a deadline stunner, reuniting the Avs with the center who helped us win the Cup in 2022. Calgary sent Kadri and a 2027 4th for Victor Olofsson, Max Curran, a 2028 1st, and a 2027 2nd. Kadri already suited up Sunday against Minnesota — assisted on MacKinnon's goal and got a standing ovation from the crowd. The Avs also added center Nicolas Roy from Toronto (conditional 2027 1st) and defenseman Brett Kulak from Pittsburgh (Samuel Girard + 2nd round pick). One concern: Gabe Landeskog is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
Rockies — Spring training continues at Salt River Fields — and there are some signs of life. After last year's 119-loss disaster, any optimism is welcome. Regular season opens March 26 at home vs the Dodgers.
Rapids — We beat LA Galaxy (4-1) on Saturday. Rafael Navarro scored a brace, and Gabriel Pec got red-carded for the Galaxy — we ran away with it after that. Next up: Sat, Mar 14 @ NYC FC at 5:30pm.
Mammoth — We're 9-4, 2nd behind Saskatchewan. We lost to Ottawa (5-10) on Saturday — were tied 5-5 heading into the fourth, then got outscored 5-0 in the final frame. Tough collapse at home. On the roster front: forward Thomas Vela went to injured reserve, but defenseman Conner Cook is back from injured reserve. Next up: Fri, Mar 13 @ Buffalo at 5:30pm.

Noteworthy: Free Ride Sharing Coming to Castle Rock?
Town Council is considering a one-year pilot for an on-demand ride sharing service called Link On Demand — a free, app-based ride sharing service that could launch later this year. Request a ride, wait 10-25 minutes, and it's completely free for anyone 13+. Hours would be 7am-7pm Monday through Thursday, extended to 10pm Fridays, and 10am-10pm Saturdays. The service already runs elsewhere in the county — 72,000 trips last year with a 4.9-star rating. Still needs final approval.
