Two weeks ago I asked if you'd be interested in a Ladies' Night Out. The response was pretty clear — so let's do this.
DougCo Social is teaming up with Blanchard Family Wines for a private guided wine tasting hosted by Shanna Blanchard, co-owner of Blanchard Family Wines — Friday, April 10 at COFF33 in Castle Rock. Sparkling welcome, charcuterie and dessert boards, four wine tastings, photos, and giveaways.
The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is back for Round 2. Castle Rock PD and Castle Rock Fire are going head-to-head to see which team can rack up the most donations — last year's event produced 212 units of blood, enough to help up to 633 patients.
There are still a few spots left — head to the James R. Sullivan Events Center (500 Fairgrounds Drive) on Wednesday, March 25 from 10am to 2:30pm. Sign up here.
Easter in and around Castle Rock
Easter is April 5th, and here are a few ideas for you in case you don't already have it all figured out.
This Weekend — Special Egg Hunt (3/28)
Front Range Church's annual egg hunt is back for its 10th year — 25,000 eggs. What makes this one stand out is the Quiet Hour from 10:30–11:30am, designed specifically for kids with sensory, vision, or mobility needs. Traditional hunts run 12:45–1:45pm. Free to attend, registration required, and registered kids get a free meal. Register at specialegghunt.com.
Saturday, April 4th
Castle Pines Egg Scramble — 10am at The Ridge Golf Course (1414 Castle Pines Pkwy). For kids 11 and under, split into three age groups with staggered starts. There's a golden egg prize, donut and hot chocolate for the kids, and coffee for the adults who need it. Free event put on by the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce.
Eggstravaganza at Bison Park — 11am–1pm in The Meadows, free. For kids up to age 10, with staggered hunt times by age group starting at 11am. Beyond the hunt there are inflatables, a 4-H petting zoo, food vendors, face painting, and the Easter Bunny. Wristbands required for inflatables and the petting zoo — pick them up in advance at the Grange (March 30–April 3) or grab them day-of. Some eggs have Raising Cane's gift certificates in them, which is a nice touch.
Hop & Shop at the Outlets — 11am–2pm in the 3rd and 4th St East courtyards. Free Easter Bunny photos, face painting, bubbles, an interactive farm experience, food trucks, and a spring scavenger hunt through participating stores — keep an eye out for the Golden Egg for a bonus prize. Elite Rewards members can show their Passbook for free coffee and pastries while supplies last.
Crazy Hair Alpacas Easter Egg Hunt — 9am–4:20pm out in Franktown (11347 Mustang Rd). Your kids hunt eggs in a private pasture while visiting alpacas up close. They hide 16 eggs per child, stuffed with toys, stickers, candy, and chocolate. Appointments every 20 minutes — $40 for a family plus one child, $10 per additional kid. Text Andrea to sign up (number on FB event). Also running Easter Sunday.
Elizabeth Easter Egg-stravaganza — 3pm at Evans Park, until the eggs are gone. If you're willing to make the drive, Elizabeth Park and Recreation does this one a little differently — infants through 2-year-olds get an Egg Hill Roll, 3–5 year olds do an Egg Launch, 6–8 year olds hunt, and 9 and up do a scramble. Free.
Easter Sunday, April 5th
Plenty of restaurants will have Easter specials this weekend — but if you want something a little more bottomless, Wide Open Saloon in Sedalia has you covered. Bottomless buffet with a carving station, fresh seafood, waffle station, omelette bar, and dessert station. $30 adults, $15 kids under 12, under 5 eat free. Two seatings: 10am and 12pm. Tickets required.
Oo de Lally has you covered with their Easter menu — Peter Cottontail, Coconut Cream Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Cadbury, Peeps, Honey Bunny Latte, and a Red Bull Jelly Bean Blast if that's your thing. Cold brew specials and blended chillers too.
And if you need a last-minute bunny for the basket, Castle Toys downtown has you covered.

Sports
Broncos — The big news: we traded for Jaylen Waddle. The Dolphins wideout joins a receiving corps that now includes Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Pat Bryan and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. We’ve obviously had receivers with speed, but Jaylen Waddle is a stud (and a veteran presence)…or at least he was for a few years there when he and Hill were seemingly unstoppable. I’m excited about this combination of size (Sutton and Humphrey) and speed (Waddle and the rest). We also signed safety Tycen Anderson to fill the depth void left by P.J. Locke's departure to Dallas.
Nuggets — We're 44-28, sitting 5th in the West. We went 3-1 this week: beat the 76ers (124-96), lost to Memphis (125-118), then came home and beat the Raptors (121-115) and the Blazers (128-112) — Jokic had a triple-double (22/14/14) in that one. We head @ Phoenix Tue, Mar 24, then host the Mavs Wed, Mar 25, the Jazz Fri, Mar 27, and the Warriors Sun, Mar 29.
Avalanche — We're 46-13-10 (102 pts), sitting 1st in the Central — and we clinched a playoff spot on Friday with a 4-1 win in Chicago. This week we lost to Dallas in a shootout (2-1), then rattled off wins in Chicago (4-1) and Washington (3-2 OT). We hit the road @ Pittsburgh Tue, Mar 24, then @ Winnipeg Thu, Mar 26, before hosting the Jets Sat, Mar 28 and the Flames Mon, Mar 30.
Rockies — Spring training wraps up this week. The regular season starts Fri, Mar 27 @ Miami for a 3-game set against the Marlins, then @ Toronto Mon, Mar 30 to face the Blue Jays. Home opener is Fri, Apr 3 vs the Phillies.
Rapids — We're 3-2-0 (9 pts), sitting 7th in the West. We beat Sporting KC (4-1). No match this week — next up is Sat, Apr 4 vs Toronto at 11am.
Summit FC — We drew 1-1 with Orlando in our second-ever match. We head @ Gotham FC Wed, Mar 25 at 5pm, then the big one — our home opener at Empower Field at Mile High on Sat, Mar 28 vs the Washington Spirit at 2pm.
Mammoth — We're 10-5 and clinched a playoff berth with a 14-12 win over Calgary. We're on a bye this week — next up is Fri, Apr 3 vs Las Vegas at 7pm.

Have gotten a few requests for a Couples Dinner in addition to our other Dinner Clubs. We’re going to gauge interest for the 55+ couple crowd first to try it out.

Noteworthy: More Road Work is Coming to Northern Castle Rock
If you live in Diamond Ridge, Sapphire Pointe, or Terrain, heads up — your neighborhood streets are getting attention this year. Castle Rock's annual Pavement Maintenance Program is focused on the northern part of town, with crews working on residential roads between late March and October. Major roads like Castle Oaks Drive, Factory Shops Boulevard, and Woodlands Boulevard are also on the list.
The Town has $19 million allocated for the program, which is expected to cover around 100 lane miles. Work includes slurry seal, crack seal, patching, overlay, and sidewalk upgrades. You'll get a 24–48 hour heads up before work hits your street, and temporary parking restrictions or short closures may come with it.
There's an open house Monday, March 23 from 4:30–6 p.m. at the Public Works Service Center (4175 Castleton Court) if you want to ask questions about timing or impacts in your neighborhood. More info here.
