Alright, the Town’s recurring summer events are now in full swing with Jazz in the Park on Wednesday at 6:30pm (free trolley rides), Fitness Friday at Miller at 8am on Fridays, plus we’ve got the first of the First Friday series this week with the Mallrats headlining, Sunday morning Yoga in the Park at Miller, and Monday evening Yoga in the Park at Festival Park. Plus, don’t forget about the Farmers Market that started up a few weeks ago. Anyone going to try to hit them all? Let me know if you do. Here’s a refresher on summer events if you need it: Castle Rock Summer Events — I’ll keep updating it.
If you need something a little more cowboy/cowgirl, then you may want to take a look at the Elizabeth Stampede happening this weekend. The weekend kicks off on Friday with a Mitchell Tenpenny concert featuring Tracy Byrd and special guest Tyler Farr. Rodeo events on the following days. Learn more here.
On another note, stopped by 24 Hour Fitness since they had their soft opening this past Wednesday after being closed for a few weeks for renovation. The main thing that they did was remove the basketball court on the second floor and fill that space with all of the squat racks and some new machines. Plus, they expanded the turf-like free workout area. I was worried they were going to take my weights away, but I’m glad to report that they kept them…

Oh, and we’re going to slow down the frequency of the dinners, both the regular and the couples edition, to match everyone’s busy schedules with summer fun. So, if you wanted to try either, we’ll be here in Castle Rock on Wednesday, June 10, for the last time for a stretch.
And, if you find yourself in town over the 4th of July and want to start it off with a little activity, join me at the ROCK-IT RUN! Use code CRC250 for 15% off! Live bands, prizes, free brats, a free brew, and more! And most importantly, you’re supporting veteran and first responder mental health. Learn more here and register here. Join the Castle Rock Crew team if you’d like, but be warned, I’m the team captain and the power’s already going to my head. Hope to see you out there wearing a hat like this legend.

Business Spotlight: Still Point Osteopathic Care
Met the Still Point team — Dr. Craig Maples's clinic over on Perry Street, just south of downtown — properly last month through our friends at The Aspen Effect. The more Megan and I spoke, the more weird/funny connections we made, as is typical in this small world. While we were chatting, Megan invited me in to meet her in person, as well as her husband, Dr. Maples. Oh, and as a bonus, I got to meet their wonderful team member Melinda — who is part of the Crew.
I'd say the most immediate, and biggest thing, in my mind, that you notice when you meet the Still Point team is their warm personalities and how they treat you. You can tell there's no switch they turn on when their clients come in for care. Thoughtfulness, respect, and kindness are just wired in their DNA. So it didn't surprise me when they told me how much time they spend with their patients, as well as gameplanning beforehand and debriefing afterwards. You see this outside of their work too, just in the way that this husband-and-wife team treats one another, talks about their family (they have their hands full with four boys), and supports our community here in Castle Rock and greater Douglas County. You probably recognize their name from sponsoring local events like Party in the Park, Art Fest, Hero Fest, and Food Truck Frenzy in Castle Pines (June 6).
So who’s providing the care?
Dr. Craig Maples is Castle Rock's only board-certified Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine & Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) physician, and from the moment you walk in, it's clear this place operates differently. Appointments are unhurried. The atmosphere is calm. And Dr. Maples actually listens to the full story behind why you're there.

So what exactly is OMM?
At its core, OMM is preventative and restorative hands-on care. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, it uses gentle pressure and manipulation to assess how your entire body is functioning together, encouraging the body's natural ability to heal itself. That neck pain you've had for years? It might be connected to posture, an old injury, or stress patterns your body has been quietly compensating for. OMM works to find the root cause and address it.
Patients come to Still Point with all kinds of concerns: migraines, back and neck pain, sciatica, TMJ, hip and shoulder discomfort, and even plantar fasciitis. Families bring their little ones too, for things like recurrent ear infections or infant feeding challenges. The conditions may look different, but the approach is always the same: thoughtful, personalized, and whole-body.

For those needing a little extra support, Still Point also offers regenerative treatments like prolotherapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) which both work with your body's natural healing processes for longer-lasting relief.
Still Point has been recognized as Castle Rock's Best Medical Office and Small Business of the Year, honors that reflect what patients already know: this is a practice that leads with care, earns trust, and delivers results people can actually feel.
Their goal is simple: to provide thoughtful, personalized care that meets you where you are and helps you move toward where you want to be. Healthcare doesn’t have to feel rushed or impersonal. As Megan puts it: “Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can offer is the space to slow down, listen closely, and support the body in doing what it was designed to do.”

Sports
Broncos — Two pieces of veteran news this week. The bigger one: Russell Wilson is leaving the NFL for a CBS Sports broadcasting job, closing the book on a strange Denver chapter that started with the trade and ended with the release. The other: Von Miller continues lobbying for a return to Denver, saying he plans to play in 2026 and wants to finish his career here. OTAs are wrapping up and minicamp is the next milestone on the calendar.
Nuggets — One actual Nuggets item this week: Jamal Murray is pulling out of Team Canada's summer camp, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has committed. That likely means a full offseason of rest and rehab for Murray after the Round 1 exit to Minnesota. Around the league: the Spurs took the West in seven over the Thunder — Saturday's Game 7 clincher in OKC was 111-103, with Wembanyama leading the way. The Finals tip off Wednesday night with Game 1 in San Antonio vs the Knicks at 6:30pm.
Avalanche — In case you missed it…season's over. We finished the regular year at 55-16-11 (121 points), 1st in the Central Division, then steamrolled the Kings in the first round (4-0) and the Wild in the second (4-1) — only to run into Vegas in the Western Conference Final and get swept 4-0. The closer Tuesday in Vegas was a 2-1 loss; the other three were 4-2, 3-1, and 5-3. Bednar's verdict afterward: the Avs "ran into a buzz saw in Vegas." Vegas now heads to its third Stanley Cup Final in nine seasons.
Rockies — What a week. We dropped both ends of the Dodgers series in our window — Tuesday was a 15-6 thrashing — then came home and took the first two over the Giants (8-6 Friday, 8-3 Saturday) before getting hammered 19-6 Sunday. Back on the road Monday visiting the Angels, we came back late to steal the opener 9-8, Senzatela picking up the win. We're 23-38, last in the NL West. Upcoming: finish @ Angels Tuesday and Wednesday, then home vs Milwaukee Fri-Sat-Sun.
Rapids — No match last week. World Cup break is officially here — our next game is a long way off (Wed, July 22 vs San Diego FC).
Summit FC — Won 1-0 on the road at Racing Louisville Friday night — Ally Brazier with the lone goal in the 64th, Abby Smith locking up the clean sheet. We're 8th in NWSL. The team is now also on extended break for the World Cup window; next match is Fri, July 3 vs Kansas City Current.
We are back in Castle Rock next Wednesday, June 10. No better time than now to make some friends to hang out with all summer!
We’ll also be hosting another Couples Dinner that night in Castle Rock. If you’d like to join us, sign up below. Please note this sign-up is on a separate platform from the Dinner Club above.
Noteworthy: Two ways to peek behind the curtain at how the town runs
The town dropped two different ways to engage with how Castle Rock actually operates this past week — one is a quick come-and-go this month, the other is a deeper eight-week program with applications open now.
Quick version — Taco 'Bout the Budget, Tuesday, June 9. The Town of Castle Rock is hosting a come-and-go open house to walk residents through the 2027 budget — and they're serving complimentary tacos while they do it. It's from 4pm-6pm at Cantril School (312 Cantril St). Town staff will be on hand to explain how funding gets allocated across departments, walk through the major projects planned for 2027, and answer questions. Town Manager David L. Corliss presents the Proposed 2027 Budget to Council this fall, so this is the resident-input window before that recommendation gets drafted. If you can't make it, the town has a brief online questionnaire at crgov.com/2027Budget that goes to the same place. Official source.
Deeper version — Your Town Academy, applications open now. If you've ever wanted a real behind-the-scenes look at how Castle Rock runs day-to-day, the Town's annual Your Town Academy is a free, eight-week program that takes you department-by-department — Development Services, Finance, Fire, Parks and Recreation, Police, Public Works/Roads, and Water — one Monday at a time. Classes run 6pm-8:30pm on Mondays from August 17 through October 12, with the program capped at 30 adults (18+). Nearly 240 people have graduated since the program started, and graduation for this year's class happens at the October 20 Town Council meeting. Apply at crgov.com/YTA. Applications close June 30, but the class can fill earlier. Official source.
